In line with the passion of her parents for quality education, Mrs Dakpokpo at a young age attended D’Afred Nursery School, Ibadan and Bodija International School, Ibadan for her primary education. She had her secondary education at the Command Secondary School, Ibadan and the prestigious Holy Trinity Grammar School, Sabongidda-Ora where she obtained the Senior School Certificate. She was admitted to study Law at the Edo State University, Ekpoma and obtained the Bachelor of Laws degree in the year 2000. She attended the Nigerian Law School, Abuja and was called to the Nigerian Bar on May 14th, 2002.
Her leadership traits and penchant for service became noticeable during the mandatory participation in the National Youth Service Corps in Katsina State on posting to the Public Complaints Commission for her primary assignment. She was the Commandant of the NYSC detachment of the Nigerian Red Cross, where she had the responsibility of leading her team on humanitarian visits to orphanages and the Nigerian Prisons as well as regular clean up of the refuse dumps in the state capital and other sundry responsibilities. She was duly awarded a certificate of merit by the Nigerian Red Cross, Katsina State Chapter for exceptional leadership and sacrificial service.
On the completion of her Youth Service, she went into legal practice in Abuja and subsequently had a stint in the public service when she worked with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on NEPAD in 2003, and also with the Presidential Task Force on Accidented Vehicles.
She returned to private legal practice in Abuja when she set up her own law firm, Georgina Amoni and Associates with a focus on Commercial and Immigration laws. She also served as Company Secretary on the board of a number of companies, including Nile Drill Tech Limited (the first Indian drilling company in Nigeria) and Suguna Drill Tech Limited. A humble and God-fearing personality, Barr Mrs Dakpokpo has always been very passionate about leadership and good governance in our nation. Fired by a patriotic zeal, she teamed up with like-minded young professionals in 2013 to x-ray the developmental challenges confronting us as a democratic country with a view to putting together a rescue roadmap. This formed the background for the formation and subsequent registration of the Young Democratic Party (YDP). Due to her commitment to the ideals of the Party, she was picked as a running mate to Nurudeen Inwanfero, the Governorship candidate in the Edo State Gubernatorial election in September, 2016; thus, making her the first Deputy Governorship candidate to run on the platform of the newly-registered YDP.
In few years of active participation in party politics, Mrs. Aye Georgina Dakpokpo has demonstrated pragmatic leadership and dependability. In recognition of her latent potentials, she was elected the National Chairman of the Party on the 11th of February, 2017, thereby making history as the first female Chairman of any political party in Nigeria and most likely in Africa, for that matter. Under her administration, YDP has achieved giant strides, spreading it’s tentacles and having presence in at least 23 states of the Federation.
In August 2017, she was elected into the office of the Deputy Secretary of IPAC at the national level, the first female ever to be so elected.
